DUSHANBE, November 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Interior Ministry migration service inspected a number of facilities in Dushanbe from October 26 to October 31 for compliance with labor code requirements.

The Korvon bazaar, the Sadbarg shopping center, the fitting-producing plant and one of parking lots were inspected in Dushanbe in a raid, dubbed Khorijiyon (Foreigners).

“In all, 450 foreigners, including 400 Chinese nationals, were inspected in the raid,” said the source at the Interior Migration service, “10 Chinese citizens were fined a total of 8,800 somoni (TJS) for violating the country’s registration requirements and illegally working in Tajikistan.”

Over the first nine months of this year, administrative action has been imposed on more that 460 foreigners for violation of the country’s labor code and registration requirements; 3,383 of them have been warned, the source said.

Over the same nine-month period, the Interior Ministry migration service has transferred more than one million somoni to the national budget.

Under Tajikistan’s legislation and the migration service requirements, each foreigner working in Tajikistan must have passport and work permit and he must work in the region where he is registered.
