KULOB, November 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — 1,064 new tuberculosis cases have been detected in Khatlon’s Kulob zone over the first ten months of this year, according to the Kulob Center for Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision.

The source at the Kulob Center for Sanitary and Epidemiologic Supervision said that 220 niduses had been registered in the area.  “They have been registered in all ten districts of the region,” he noted.

Over the report period, 244 new TB cases have been detected in Vose, 181 in Hamadoni, 138 in the city of Kulob, 99 in the district of Kulob and 92 in the Farkhor district.

According to the source, 88 of newly detected TB sufferers are young people aged 18 to 19; 64 newly detected TB sufferers are children aged 7 to 14; and 14 newly detected TB sufferers are children under the age of 5.

He added that 839 newly detected TB sufferers are residents of rural areas.
