DUSHANBE, November 20, 2009, Asia-Plus — One of the most vital tasks of Tajikistan is to solve the issue of energy independence and security as soon as possible, Davlatali Saidov, the head of the State Committee for Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“Today, we need the population to array itself round the government for achievement of the set goals as never before,” said Saidov, “The situation shows that there is no alternative.  Moreover, we do not have allies in this issue in the region.”

The GosKomInvest head noted that construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP) was the main issue for Tajikistan, determining its future development, wellbeing and self-sufficiency.

“I am sure that our population will actively participate in helping Roghun’s construction through acquiring shares in the station.” Saidov noted.
