KULOB, November 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Cotton growers of the Vose district in Khatlon’s Kulob zone have fulfilled their cotton target.

According to Abdullo Rajabov, a lead specialist with the Kulob agriculture directorate, the Vose cotton-growing farms have yielded 17,343 tons of raw cotton by November 23, which is 143 tons more than it was originally planned.

“Danghara and Hamadoni districts have also fulfilled their cotton targets and the Kulob district has to yield just another 40 tons to fulfill its target,” said Rajabov.

In all, the Kulob zone has produced 51,751 tons of cotton by November 23, which comprises 96.5 percent of this year”s target.  “Even if the Farkhor district, which has reached 86.8 percent of its cotton target by this day, fails to fulfill its target, the Kulob zone will be able fulfill the target because the cotton-harvesting campaign is going on in all cotton-producing districts of the area,” Rajabov said.
