DUSHANBE, November 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — An arms cache containing 4 assault rifles Kalashnikov, one pistol, two hand grenades F-1, two hand grenades RGD-5, 103 bullets and one pistol silencer has been discovered in a cotton field of the farming unit Belayduz in the Hissar district, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The source at a MoI said that the cache had been discovered by police officers following confession obtained from the earlier detained Islomiddin Kenjayev. “His accomplice is currently wanted by police,” the source said.
Since the beginning of this year, Tajik law enforcement authorities have confiscated some 900 firearms, including 231 assault rifles Kalashnikov, 119 pistols and 156 rifles from the population, the source added.
