DUSHANBE, December 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Tuesday December 8, President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting of the Consultative Council for Improvement of Investment Climate.

The meeting participants included senior representatives from the country’s economic bloc ministries and country offices of the European Commission, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), German Agency for technical Cooperation (GTZ) and International Finance Cooperation (IFC) in Tajikistan.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting, Ms. Wendy Werner, Project Manager for the IFC Business Enabling Environment Project, said that activities organized in Tajikistan within the framework of introduction of ‘One-stop-shop’ (OSS) principle when state registration of enterprises and entrepreneurs as well as the “200 Days of Reform” program were discussed at the meeting.

Following our proposal, the Government of Tajikistan has committed itself to pass decree on creation of a credit bureau in the country in the near future.

Mr. Jonathan Holbrook of GTZ in Tajikistan noted that compared to large business, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) now experienced less problems with authorities and that was evidence of the fact that Tajikistan has been taking resolute steps in that direction.

Confidence and good relations between state institutions and entrepreneurs can play an important role in development of Tajikistan, he noted.
