DUSHANBE, December 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Communist Party (CPT) is ready to send its representatives to all polling stations during the 2010 parliamentary elections, the CPT leader Shdi Shabdolov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the Communist Party now has more than 45,000 members. “However, the number of supporters of our party is much higher,” Shabdolov said, noting that the party has its organizations in all cities and districts of the country, except the Tavildara district.  “Although the party does not have a district committee in Tavildara, it has members and supporters there.”

Mr. Shabdolov considers that there are only two parties in Tajikistan that are able “to delegate their representatives to all polling stations.”

“The pre-election congress of the Communist Party will take place in Dushanbe on December 26 and some 80 delegates from all regions of the country are expected to attend the congress,” said the Tajik Communist leader, “The congress will consider the party platform and I am sure it will meet expectations of our people and will be supported by all sections of the country’s population.”

He added that they had already discussed the party pre-election program in all regions of the country.

The Communist Party of Tajikistan was founded in 1918 and it was registered with the Ministry of Justice on 1991.

In the meantime, the Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) will hold its pre-election congress in Dushanbe on December 20 and some 600 delegates and 300 guests are expected to attend the IRPT congress.
