DUSHANBE, December 29, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Sharif Said has met with Kazakh Ambassador to Tajikistan, Abutalip Akhmetov.

According to the CCI press service, the sides discussed prospects of further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in 2010.

Kazakh diplomat noted that trade and economic relations between the two countries have been developing well, although the global financial and economic crisis has affected a two-way trade between the countries.

He also noted that a session of the Tajik-Kazakh intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation that recently took place in Kazakhstan adopted the Tajik-Kazakh economic cooperation expansion program for the period till 2012.

For his part, Sharif Said noted that opening of offices of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in several Kazakhstan’s provinces had positive impact on development of business relations between the two countries.  The CCI head reminded that an exhibition of Tajik farm produce had been held in Astana and proposed to continue cooperation in that field.

In the course of the talks, Ambassador Akhmetov noted Kazakh companies would like to take part in an exhibition of Turkey’s goods that is expected to take place in Dushanbe in March 2010.

The two also discussed issues related to attraction of Kazakh investments for development of Tajikistan’s economy as well as expansion of cooperation between the regions of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
