DUSHANBE, January 21, 2010, Asia-Plus — Open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk, which is one of Tajikistan’s largest commercial banks, accounted for some 26 percent of the overall volume of remittances sent to the Sughd province in 2009, Ahrorkhon Ahrorov, head of the Agroinvestbonk’s main branch in Khujand, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, more than 143.3 million U.S. dollars were remitted to the bank’s branches in the province last year.

“Over the report period, Agroinvestbonk’s share at the deposit market of northern Tajikistan amounted to 34.5 percent, which is 2 percent more than in 2008,” Ahrorov said.

Founded in 1992, Agroinvestbonk, with headquarters in Dushanbe, has main branches in Khorog, Khujand, Kulob and Qurghon Teppa and 61 other branches across the republic.
