DUSHANBE, January 28, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up “India –Tajikistan Modern Engineering Workshop” at Tajik State Technical University named after the academician M. S. Osimi in Dushanbe was signed in Dushanbe on January 25, 2010.

The document was inked by Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan Amar Sinha and Tajik Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov.

According to the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe, the Government of India announced a grant of US$700,000 to set up the workshop at the State Technical University.  Hindustan Machine Tools (International) Ltd., Bangalore is the implementing agency of the project.

The Modern Engineering Workshop with modern computer controlled machines and equipment will improve the effectiveness of practical teaching and training and it will be established in the existing premises of the mechanical laboratory at the University.

The project also includes training of Tajik specialists in India for acquiring knowledge in the usage of new machines and equipment and deputation of Indian experts in Dushanbe to impart on the job training and reinforce training to University faculty.  This will give a boost to the human resource development in Tajikistan, as each developing economy requires greater member of well trained Engineers and technicians.
