DUSHANBE, February 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — 55 small power plants with rated capacity ranging from 5 to 400 kW were constructed in Tajikistan in 2009, which is five stations more than it was originally planned, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

The source at a MoEI noted that earlier, the president had ordered to speed up construction of small power plants and build 50 small power plants in a year.

“The target was fulfilled due to local and foreign investors and some other 1,223 families in Tajikistan last year got an opportunity to use electrical power,” the source said, noting that another 21 small power plants with a total capacity of 9,989 kW are currently under construction in the country.  These stations are being constructed with support from local investors, he added.
