DUSHANBE, April 10, Asia-Plus — Known Tajik astrophysicist Poulod Bobojonov has received the CIS Stars of Commonwealth Award.
According to the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation (IFHC), academician Bobojonov has been selected as prize winner for his significant contributions in the field of astrophysics and training of high-skilled scientific personnel.
The award ceremony for prize winners took place in the Pashkov House of the Russian State Library in Moscow on April 9.
The Stars of Commonwealth Awards 2010 are given in three nominations: achievements in science and education; achievements in culture and arts; and achievements in humanitarian activity. With a view to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the special nomination for the best work reflecting the common contribution of the CIS peoples to the victory has been instituted.
IFHC says the prizes were also awarded to Igor Fedorov, Chancellor of the Bauman Moscow Technical University, the staff of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) including Genrikh Levin, Anatoly Krishtofich, and Oleg Chizh, Tair Salahov, Azerbaijani artist, Dzhivan Gasparyan, Armenian composer and musician, Sultan Rayev, Kyrgyz writer. The prizes for humanitarian activity were awarded to Kazakhstan President’s spouse Sara Nazarbayeva, composer Alexandra Pakhmutova and poet Nikolai Dobronravov. The prize of the special nomination was awarded to composer David Tukhmanov.
