DUSHANBE, April 19, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A group of Malaysian companies, Aman, intends to participate in implementation of energy and transportation projects in Tajikistan.

The source at the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) says the Aman managing director Hamid Mohammed remarked this at a meeting with the GosKomInvest head Davlatali Saidov here on April 17.

Mr. Hamid Mohammed noted that Aman was currently successfully working in Kazakhstan and Iran.

According to him, the company has studied prospects of investment in Tajikistan’s economy in recent months.  “Tajikistan is rich in mineral resources but it is necessary to enhance its transportation infrastructure,” said the Aman managing director, “In this connection, we offer the Tajik government to consider the possibility of construction of a rail link connecting Tajikistan and China.”

For his part, Davlatali Saidov noted that Tajikistan’s laws regulating investment and entrepreneurial activity favored investment activity in the country and guaranteed protection of foreign investments.

“Aman intends to invest in the transport ad energy sectors that are priority areas for our economic activity and we are ready for mutually beneficial cooperation,” the GosKomInvest head said.
