DUSHANBE, May 7, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy, Dushanbe, announces a new online application system called the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC), according to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.

The new application form, called DS-160, features benefits such as an intuitive interface and the ability for applicants to upload their own photographs.  The system provides a translation of the visa application questions in Russian.

Beginning May 1, 2010, the new online application form is required for certain participants of exchange programs, and will be accessible from the website for optional use.

As of May 24, 2010, this new online application form will be mandatory for all U.S. non immigrant visa applicants. After May 24, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy, Dushanbe, will no longer accept the paper forms.
