DUSHANBE, May 11, 2010, Asia-Plus — The government of Uzbekistan has nearly doubled rates for cargos transported to the country by vehicles from Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Uzbek media reported on May 10.
On April 27, 2010, the Uzbek government made amendments to the government’s resolution on further improvement of control of entry, exit and transit of foreign motor transport.
Under these amendments, rates for trucks and busses from Tajikistan have been raised from US$50.00 to US$90.00.
Rates for trucks with carrying capacity of up to 10 tons and busses with 12 seats from Turkmenistan have been raised from US$20.00 to US$35.00 and rates for Turkmen trucks with carrying capacity of 10 and more tons and buses with more than 12 seats have been raised from US$30.00 to US$55.00.
Rates for trucks and buses from other foreign countries have been raised from US$100.00 to US$175.00.
