DUSHANBE. June 10. “Asia-Plus” — Yesterday, June 9, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met with Special Envoy of France for Central Asia on Economic Affairs Emri de Montesque.

According to the President’s press service, the sides have discussed Tajik-French relations and prospects for their development.

“Noting the importance of the international conference “Water for Life” in Dushanbe, French Envoy stressed that Tajikistan can play a very important role among Persian-speaking countries using its growing international authority,” the source reported.

According to the source, Mr. Emri de Montesque said that France and all other EU countries support the ongoing negotiations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan over the transport blockade.

“He also stressed that Tajikistan should build alternative roads that would provide independence to Tajikistan from former Soviet countries,” the source said.
