Tajikistan’s external trade turnover for Jan-Jul 2010 amounts to US$2.0091 bln

DUSHANBE, August 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Over the first seven months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, has amounted to 2.0091 billion U.S. dollars, which was 105.5 percent of the January-July 2009 level or 104.6 million U.S. dollars more, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 728 million US dollars.

Exports of goods in January-July 2010 amounted to 640.6 million US dollars, which was 28.6 percent, or 142.3 million U.S. dollars, more than in the same period last year.

Imports of goods into the country over the report period amounted to 1.3685 billion U.S. dollars, which was 2.7 percent, or 37.7 million dollars, fewer than in January-July 2009.

Compared to June 2010, exports last month decreased by 3.8 percent.  In the meantime, imports last month increased by 27.3 percent compared to June 2010. 

In January-July 2010, Tajikistan had trade relations with 90 countries of the world, including 10 CIS nations.

Over the report period, the CIS countries accounted for 42.8 percent (859.5 million dollars) of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover and the far abroad countries accounted for 57.2 percent (1.1496 billion dollars) of the country’s external trade turnover.
