KULOB, September 13, 2010 Asia-Plus — Over the first eight months of this year, 898 new cases of tuberculosis have been detected in all ten districts of the Kulob zone in Khatlon province, which is 56 cases more than in the same period last year, according to the Kulob center for sanitary and epidemiological supervision.
The TB situation remains serious in Vose and Hamadoni districts and the city of Kulob. “In Vose district alone, 230 new cases of TB have been detected over the report period (16 cases more than in January-August 2009), 193 new cases of tuberculosis have been reported in the city of Kulob (three cases fewer), and 151 new cases of tuberculosis have been detected in Hamadoni district (seven cases more),” the source said.
According to him, increase in the number of new cases of the disease has been reported in all districts of the area, except Temourmalik district.
