DUSHANBE, September 30, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’ Red Crescent Society (RCS) is ready to provide necessary aid to servicemen that sustained wounds in a terrorist act in Rasht district, the RCS head Zafar Muhabbatov announced at a roundtable meeting in Dushanbe on September30.

Organized by Delegation of the International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) in Tajikistan, the meeting brought together representatives from ICRC Delegation, RCS and media.

Speaking at the meeting, the RCS head noted that RCS was ready to provide necessary aid to servicemen wounded in the attack and families of servicemen, who had been killed in that terrorist act, in form of medicines, food products, etc.

According to him, they are currently developing the plan of providing aid to the attack victims.  “Our organization provides aid only in the vent if the government asks it for that,” said Muhabbatov, “If the government asks us, we are ready to do that even now.”

He added that the RCS mobile teams were currently working in Rasht and they were ready to provide an immediate aid to victims.

In the meantime, the award ceremony for the winners of the competition among journalists of electronic and print media on the best materials about humanitarian activities in Central Asia and a role of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in addressing today’s humanitarian challenges took place on sidelines of the roundtable meeting.
