DUSHANBE, November 2, 2010, Asia-Plus — To-date, Tajikistan has reached 20 percent of the winter crop sowing target, according to the crop sector directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
This year, 209,000 hectares have been allotted to the winter crop cultivation in Tajikistan and farmers have plowed 67,700 hectares, or 32 percent, to this day.
“By November 2, farmers have planted winter crops on 43,100 hectares, which is 20 percent of the target,” the source said.
Khatlon farmers plan to plant winter crops, potatoes and early vegetables on 123,700 hectares, farming units in Sughd province will plant winter crops on 45,000 hectares, and districts subordinate to the center will plant winter crops on 40,100 hectares this year.
