DUSHANBE, February 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — The 2010 International Roudaki Prize has been awarded to renowned Russia orientalist Alexander N. Boldyrev.
Alexander N. Boldyrev (May 29, 1909-1993) had been Professor at St. Petersburg University since 1955. He devoted his life to the study of Tajik folklore, Tajik and Persian literature, as well as Tajik and Persian manuscripts. Professor Boldyrev trained a pleiad of Tajik orientalists and philologists.
The award ceremony was held at St. Petersburg University on February 22 and the award of 15,410 somoni (equivalent to 104,320 Russian rubles), diploma and medal were handed over to Maria Boldyreva, the daughter of the scientist.
