Tajik CES plans to establish SAR dogs center in the future

Date:

DUSHANBE, April 20, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) plans to establish the search and rescue (SAR) dogs center in the future.

The CES head Khaybullo Latipov told reporters yesterday that they are currently conducting negotiations with the Demining Dogs Training Center, Norwegian People’s Aid on creation of a dog training service in the country.

“We plan to establish the dog training center at the CES’s training grounds in Kharangon, Varzob district,” Latipov said, adding that they are currently considering the center financing issues.

According to him, it is supposed that the project will be financed by the Norwegian Demining Dogs Training Center.

The CES head stressed that at first, Norwegian specialists would instruct Tajik rescuers and their dogs in searching for mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) and afterwards, the center would also train SAR dogs.
