DUSHANBE, May 4, 2011, Asia-Plus  –The board (Shuro) of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament considered an agreement between Tajikistan and Pakistan on aerial communication at a May 4 meeting, presided over by the Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said the board also considered a bill on precious metals and stones as well as an agreement on Tajikistan’s joining the Convention on the Prompt Notification of Nuclear Accidents (IAEA).

The objective of this convention is to provide information on nuclear accidents as soon as possible in order to minimize cross-border radiological consequences to the greatest possible extent. Each Member State signing the Convention undertakes to provide the IAEA with information on the development of any accident that might occur, the latter then immediately informing all the Member States.  Each State is required to inform the IAEA of the points of contact available 24 hours a day and of the competent authorities authorized to issue notifications and verify the information provided.

These issues will be considered at a sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation that will take place next week, Sultonov said.
