DUSHANBE, June 13, 2011, Asia-Plus – The Tajik Anti-Monopoly Service under the Government of Tajikistan initiates the official regulation of retail prices for separate socially important commodities.

According to the service, Tajik anti-monopoly experts have designed a draft regulation on the order of the formation and application of free prices for goods and services. The document urges to set up the size of retail bonus for some socially important services.

The document is now being adjusted with related governmental services and structures.

The anti-monopoly service has also said that the initiative is aimed to make the prices of subjects of retail chain reasonable. “We now have a very difficult situation with pricing policy at retail market of the republic. The Government has to interfere to stabilize the situation. From now on retailers will not be allowed to set up bonuses on prices for essential commodities as they like. These bonuses will be regulated for specific commodities. The list of these has already been designed. These commodities will also include fuel,” the source has said, adding that the state does not fix prices since the republic sticks to the rules of market economy where the priority is given to liberalization of prices.
