DUSHANBE, June 14, 2011, Asia-Plus – A trial over Hayem Nazarov, Bahrullo Niyezov and Shamsullo Karaev, all citizens of Tajikistan, in the regional court of Varzob region is over. All three were arrested by the Tajik National Security Committee’s officers for illegal drug sale on the territory of the region in early February this year.
22kg of heroin, 34kg of hashish and 23kg of raw-opium were hidden in KAMAZ truck and were seized as a result of a special operation, a spokesman for the Tajik State National Security Committee Nozirjon Buriev told the AP.
Hayem Niyezov was sentenced to 18 years in prison, Bahrullo Niyezov and Shamsullo Karaev got 17 and 14 years in prison respectively, he said.
