QURGHON TEPPA, June 13, 2011, Asia-Plus – The Khatlon Regional court sentenced 19-year-old Firdavs Saidov, who was found guilty of killing three teenaged children in Kurgon-Teppa, to life in prison.

The trial, which was presided over by the judge Toshtemir Kushokov, ended on June 10th this year, senior prosecutor’s assistant for Khatlon area Varka Zainiddinov told the AP.

“The court has found Firdavs Saidov guilty under 11 articles of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan, including murder, robbery, rape, fraud and etc.,” he said.

This brutal crime was committed in Kurgon-Teppa city on December 16th, 2010, when three children of 9, 13 and 15 years of age were found dead in their flat. The police have arrested Firdavs Saidov who pleaded himself guilty during the first interrogation.

As it has become clear during the investigation, in 2008 Firdavs Saidov has opened his confectionary business and owed a huge amount of money to his supplier. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, he wormed himself into Olim Beknazarov”s family confidence. On 16th of December Saidov decided to rob Beknazarov’s flat. When 9-year-old Shokhjahon opened the door he got multiple stab wounds. Saidov took $2000 US dollars and 8000 Somoni from Beknazarov’s apartment. Later on, when two sisters, a 13-year-old Lobarkhon and 15-year-old Nargis returned back home from the school, Saidov brutally killed them.

In his interview to Asia-Plus Olim Beknazarov said he is satisfied with the sentence. “I would like to thank the police and Prosecutor’s Office who have managed to disclose this brutal crime and arrested the murderer. There could not be any other sentence. If there was no moratorium on death penalty I would definitely asked the court to sentence him to death,” he said.

“Me and my wife have suffered a lot since the day when our children were killed and have mental disorders. I don’t wish anyone to suffer such a tragedy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Alisher Faizulloev, the prisoner’s lawyer, refused to comment upon the court’s decision.
