DUSHANBE, September 20, 2011, Asia-Plus — One person was killed and at least two others were wounded in a fight that took place in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province on September 15, according to the Ministry of Interior.

“A knife-fight involving more than six persons took place in the center of the city near the Theater named after Kamol Khujandi,” said the source.  “Shuhrat Urunov, 18, was stabbed to death and two other persons – Firdavs Karimov, 18, and Muminjon Jouryaev, 23 – also sustained stab wounds and were hospitalized.  The assailants escaped.”

Three young men – A.T., 20, B.M., 21 (both are from Bobojonghafurov district) and Z.P., 21, from Khujand – were arrested last weekends on suspicion of having committed that crime.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under the provisions of two articles of Tajikistan’s Pena Code: Article 104 (2) – murder; and Article 237 (3) – hooliganism.  Search operation for the remaining accomplices to that attack is under way, the source added.
