DUSHANBE, November 8, 2011, Asia-Plus — A three-day working trip of Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev to the northern Sughd province is concluding today evening.

Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, says the purpose of the visit for the minister was to inspect the Sughd military garrison as well as get acquainted with living and service conditions of military personnel in the area and the process of the autumn conscription campaign in northern Tajikistan.

Khairulloyev also familiarized himself with preparedness of military units deployed in Sughd for the autumn-winter season.

During his stay in Khujand, the minister held talks with local law enforcement authorities to discuss maintenance of legality and discipline in the garrison’s military units, the source said.
