DUSHANBE, November 11, 2011, Asia-Plus — According to the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), Tajikistan’s exports of goods in January-October 2011 have amounted to 1 billion US dollars, which was 11.6 percent more than in the same period last year.
Over the report period, Tajikistan has exported mainly mineral commodities, cotton fiber and precious metals.
Imports of goods into the country over the report period have amounted to 2.6 billion U.S. dollars, which was 25.6 percent more than in January-October 2010.
Imports have reportedly increased mainly due to the increase in imports of food products (wheat flour, wheat, and vegetable oil), oil products, lumber, transport means, finished foods products and consumer goods, the source said.
