DUSHANBE, January 21, 2012, Asia-Plus — On Saturday January 21, President Emomali Rahmon received a group of persons nominated to high positions in prosecutor’s offices and the National Guard, according to the presidential press service.
After the meeting, Sharif Qurbonov was named to be chief prosecutor of Sughd province, replacing Yusuf Rahmonov and Hotam Asoyev was named to be the country’s transportation prosecutor. Dorob Asoyev was appointed deputy prosecutor of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
Besides, prosecutors of the districts of Shugnan, Mastchoh and Fayzobod as well as prosecutor of the Khorog military garrison were replaced.
The Dushanbe prosecutor was given six months to remove shortcomings existing in Dushanbe such as illegal land grabbing, improper fight against drug trafficking and drug addiction, juvenile delinquency, and trade in faked school-leaving certificates.
Meanwhile, Habibullo Safarov was appointed first deputy head of the National Guard’s chief staff and seven other officers were appointed to high positions in the National Guard. The source notes all of them graduated from higher military schools abroad.
