DUSHANBE, January 26, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov yesterday presided over a meeting of the steering committee on preparations for the 2012 International Navrouz Day, according to the prime minister’s secretariat.

Heads of relevant ministries and organizations as well representatives of creative unions attended the meeting to discuss festival’s programs, the source said.  

We will recall that Tajikistan hosts International Navrouz Celebrations this year and high-ranking delegation from more than 30 countries are expected to attend celebrations in Dushanbe. 

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 18 February, 2010 declaring March 21 International Navrouz Day.  In September 2009, the UN”s cultural agency, UNESCO, included Navrouz in its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
