KHUJAND, January 30, 2012, Asia-Plus– Some 46 kilograms of narcotics were destroyed in a special narcotics-burning incinerator of the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office for Sughd province in Khujand on January 27.


A totaled included more than 39 kilograms of heroin, 5.7 kilograms of raw opium and 1.6 kilograms of hashish, the source said.


According to him, the incinerated drugs were confiscated in the course of 2011 and were material evidences in criminal cases, on which court verdicts have come into effect.


Last year, Sughd law enforcement authorities reportedly seized more than 575 kilograms of narcotics, which is 316 kilograms fewer than in 2010.

 

In 2011, Sughd law enforcement officers arrested 297 local residents on drug charges, including 23 women.
