DUSHANBE, February 10, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Malaysian companies intend to open an investment bank in Tajikistan to support development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country, the press center of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) reports.

This issue was reportedly discussed here on February 8 at a meeting of Ms. Larisa Kislyakova, the deputy chairperson of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with visiting Malaysian delegation.

According to the CCI press center, the delegation members included Mr. Husayni Najadi, the director of ALAK Company, Mr. Husayn Vaziri, representative of the Petrogreen Company, and Mr. Fayaz Haider, member of the Board of the Malaysia Investment Bank.

In the course of the talks, Ms. Kislyakova noted small and medium-sized enterprises constituted some 80 percent of members of Tajikistan’s CCI.  She noted that CCI was currently seeking investors for enhancement of farm produce processing and food industries in Tajikistan.
