DUSHANBE, February 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — In January 2012, Tajikistan produced a total of more than 690 million somoni (equivalent to more than 145 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI). 

Compared to January 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 115.9 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 69.5 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced last month, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 24.3 percent and mining industry accounted for 6.3 percent.

Compared to January 2011 enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) increased production volumes by 30 million somoni.  

Cotton-processing enterprises last month produced output 71 million somoni more than in January 2011.  

Compared to January 2011 enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI increased production volumes by 10 million somoni.

A source at a MoEI says that compared to January 2011 wheat shipments to the country increased 3.5 times and flour deliveries increased 2.4 times.  “98,000 tons of wheat and some 68,000 tons of wheat flour were delivered to the country last month,” he added.
