DUSHANBE, February 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has got acquainted with projects for rehabilitation of highways and construction of modern buildings in the Tajik capital.

According to the presidential press service, President Emomali Rahmon on February 10 acquainted with a number of projects aimed at rehabilitating highways and constructing new modern buildings in Dushanbe.

Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev mayor and some other high-ranking state officials reported on the municipal development projects.

The projects are as follows:

– Rehabilitation of the highway from the Abu Ali Sino Monument in Dushanbe to the Hisor Gate at the edge of the city.  A US$28 million grant is being used for implementation of this project.

– Rehabilitation of the Nemat Qaraboyev Street from the junction with the Jomi Street to the Korvon bazaar.  The project is expected to be finished by the end of this year.  

– Construction of apartment buildings, various social facilities, including schools, hospitals and shopping centers.  The majority of these buildings will be constructed on the Roudaki, Ismouli Somoni, Saadii Sherozi, Hofizi Sherozi, Tursunzoda, Surkhob and other streets.

It is to be noted that national investment projects for a total amount of 156 million U.S. dollars have been implemented in Dushanbe since 2005.

Four national investment projects totaling worth of 46 million U.S. dollars are being implemented in the Tajik capital and two other projects for total amount of 43 million U.S. dollars will be launched this year.

In all, six republican projects for a total amount of 91 million U.S. dollars will be implemented in Dushanbe in 2012-2013.

20,800 new jobs are expected to be created in the capital in 2012 and 20,900 new jobs will be created in Dushanbe in 2013.
