The earthquake occurred at 4:28 local time with epicenter 152km north-east of Dushanbe and 20km south-east of Rasht region, engineer of the Tajik Academy of Science’s Geophysics Service Zuhra Nilobekova told AP.
6-7 magnitude tremors were registered in the quake’s epicenter. 4-magnitude earthquake was felt in Dushanbe, 6-magnitude tremors in Garm, 3-4-magnitude tremors in Khorog. 4-5-magnitude tremors were reported in the construction site of the Rogun HPP.
According to the Emergency and Civil Defense Committee, one resident of Tandovchi village of Samsolik Jamoat of Nurobod region died as wall of his own house fell as a result of the earthquake. Several houses in this region were damaged as a result of the quake. The quake caused damage to 20 head of cattle.
Furthermore, the quake caused a mudslide to occur in Langarak village of Kalai Surh Jamoat of Rasht region which destroyed two houses in this village.
