Anand Grover, UN Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, is scheduled to visit Tajikistan on May 24 – June 1 this year.

As reported by the UN News Center, ahead of his official visit to Tajikistan Mr.Grover said that the goal of his visit is to attract the Government, partner development organizations and civil society to resolution of financial problems in Tajikistan’s health system.

“This system depends on private payments which make more than two thirds of all expenditures for health,” Mr.Grover said.

He added that he plans to discuss mental health and TB treatment issues. He is also planning to draw attention to the problem of social stigma and discrimination.

UN Special Rapporteur will share his preliminary outcomes at a press conference scheduled for May 31 in Dushanbe. He will arrive to Tajikistan as soon as his current mission to Azerbaijan ends.

UN Special Rapporteur is an independent export appointed by the UN Human Right Council. Mr. Anand Grover is lawyer from India.
