Yesterday, May 24, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev signed resolution offering the Majlis of people’s deputies to rename some streets of the city.

The initiative is aimed to immortalize memory of notable Tajik artists who contributed greatly to the development of native culture, a spokesman for the Dushanbe Mayor Shavkat Saidov told AP.

“Mayor suggested to name Pionerskaya street in Ismoili Somoni region after Hanifa Mavlonova, People’s artiste of USSR; name Privokzalnaya street in Shokhmansur region after Kutbi Kirom, people’s poet of Tajikistan and laureate of the Rudaki State Award. Mayor Ubaidulloev also suggested to name the 9th January street located in Sino region after Safarmuhammad Ayubi, people’s poet of Tajikistan and laureate of the Rudaki State Award,” Saidov has said.
