DUSHANBE, December 20, 2012, Asia-Plus  — An exhibition of works by known artist Faridun Zoda has been held in the Capital Museum in Beijing, China.

Dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan, the exhibition was titled “What is Maisun Thinking About?” website of China People’s Daily reports.  The exhibition kicked off on December 10 and lasted until December 17.

Speaking at the exhibition-opening ceremony, Tajik Ambassador to China Rashid Olimov, in particular, noted that cooperation in the field of culture and art played an active role in developing good neighborly relations between the two countries.

The Capital Museum deputy director, for his part, noted that the exhibition was not only the symbol of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan; it also played an important role in developing friendship between the two nations.

Faridun Zoda was born in 1958, in Dushanbe, the Republic of Tajikistan. At the age of 12, Faridun attended the Moscow High School for the Arts, 1970-1976, and the Moscow Institute of Fine Arts, 1976-1982. In 1993, Faridun won first place for the best monument dedicated to the civil war in Tajikistan, organized by the Government of Tajikistan.  He is prominently featured in the book, “Young Artists of Tajikistan” and “Landscapes of a Mountainous District”, and in the United Nations “Chronicle Magazine”, “Manhattan Arts International” and other publications.  Faridun”s first solo show in the United States was in 1989 at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In 1994, Faridun moved to the United States.  In 1996 he won the “Color Profile Award” in the “Manhattan Arts International” 5th Annual International Art competition, and the “Color Profile Award” New York Search for the most unique image, “Sun Storm Art Magazine.”  Faridun Zoda won award of excellence in 1997 & 1998, “Manhattan Arts” international art competition.  Faridun was invited for solo and group shows in 2000, 2001 and 2008 at the United Nations.  Faridun Zoda is a U.S. citizen and resides in the United States.  His collections of art are in the USA, Russia, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, Israel and China.
