DUSHANBE, January 16, 2013, Asia-Plus  — An enlarged session of the government to review the results of the past year’s work took place in Dushanbe yesterday.

Speaking at the meeting, Davlatali Saidov, the head of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), noted that 57 investment projects for a total amount of 9.5 billion somoni were currently being implemented in the country, the president’s official website reports.  Grants have accounted for 36.4 percent of this amount.

“In 2012 alone, Tajikistan signed ten grant agreements for a total amount of 1.25 billion somoni,” Saidov said.

Minister of transport noted that 224 kilometers of roads were rehabilitated and 74 new bridges were built last year due funds provided by the country’s budget and private entrepreneurs.  Work on rehabilitation of highways and construction of bridges and tunnels is under way in the country within the framework of 18 investment projects, the minister said.

The minister of agriculture noted that last year’s gross agricultural product from all categories of farms was 16.5 billion somoni (in current prices) and increased by 10.4 percent compared to 2011.

Ministers of education, labor and health as well as chairpersons of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Khatlon and Sughd provinces and Dushanbe also reported on the results of work carried out in 2012.

No staff changes were introduced during the yesterday’s meeting.
