KHUJAND, June 7, 2013, Asia-Plus  — A gusty wind that occurred in the Panjakent district, Sughd province has reportedly left one dead and four injured.

According to the press center of the Interior Ministry’s office for Sughd province, the tragedy took place in the area on June 6.

“In the Khurmi jamoat, the gusty wind threw the 6-year-old Jamshed Yodgorov into the canal, where he was drowned,” said the source.  “In the Shing and Divashtich jamoats, four persons sustained various injuries after the gusty wind knocked them down.  All of them were hospitalized.”

Besides, the disaster damaged nine apartment buildings and 30 private houses in Panjakent.  The wind also damaged 18 kilometers of the power transmission lines in the district.

A special commission has been set up to assess the actual damage caused by the disaster and to remove its effects.
