DUSHANBE, June 20, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Chinese company, Zonergi (phonetically spelled) Co Ltd, is interested in cooperation with Tajikistan on delivery of the renewable energy generation equipment, according to the State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) of Tajikistan.

This issue was reportedly discussed at a meeting of GosKomInvest head Davlatali Saidov with Mr. Go Ching, Vice-President of Zonergi Co Ltd that took place here on June 18.

“In the course of the talks, the Tajik side presented investment opportunities of the country and noted that achievement of energy independence is one of priorities of the country’s policy and Tajikistan is ready to use all opportunities to achieve this goal,” a source at GosKomInvest said.

Mr. Go, for his part, noted that his company had decided to deliver the renewable energy generation equipment to Tajikistan or to launch a joint venture for the renewable energy generation equipment in Tajikistan.

According to information from the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MoEI), Tajikistan now uses several solar panels and systems for generation of electricity.

The duration of solar radiance in the territory of Tajikistan reportedly varies from 2000 to 3000 hours annually.  In mostly populated areas – Hisor and Vakhsh valleys and Sughd province it exceeds 2700 hours annually.

As far as China is concerned, about 17 percent of China”s electricity came from renewable sources in 2007, led by the world”s largest number of hydroelectric generators.  Technology development and increased amounts of investment in renewable energy technologies and installations have increased markedly throughout the 2000s in China, and investment in renewable energy is now part of China”s economic stimulus strategy. Researchers from Harvard University and Tsinghua University have found that the People”s Republic could meet all of its electricity demands from wind power by 2030.

China has the largest wind resources in the world and three-quarters of them are offshore.  China has identified wind power as a key growth component of the country”s economy.  China aims to have 100 GW of wind power capacity by 2020.

China produces 30% of the world”s solar photovoltaics (PV).  It has emerged as the world”s largest manufacturer of solar panels in the last two years.  China has become a world leader in the manufacture of solar photovoltaic technology, with its six biggest solar companies having a combined value of over $15 billion.
