DUSHANBE, July 23, 2013, Asia-Plus — The remainder of loans provided by Tajik banks rose 42.7 percent in a year to July 1, 2013, reaching 6.5 billion somoni, the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) head, Abdujabbor Shirinov, told journalists in Dushanbe on July 23.
Over the first six months of this year, Tajik banks have reportedly provided 4.2 billion somoni in loans, 43.8 percent more than in the same period last year.
38.2 percent of the loans have been provided in the national currency and 61.8 percent have been provided in foreign currencies.
The weighted average interest rate for loans provided in the national currency was 24.8 percent and the weighted average interest rate for loans provided in foreign currencies was 21.7 percent, Tajik central bank head noted.
The volume of microloans provided by commercial banks reportedly rose 49.8 percent in a year to July 1, 2013, reaching 2.2 billion somoni.
Over the report period, local banks have provided 444.8 million somoni in microloans to residents of remote mountain areas, 43.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
According to Tajik central bank, 143 credit organizations, including 16 banks, 37 microloan deposit organizations, 44 microloan organizations and 46 microloan funds now function in Tajikistan.
