DUSHANBE, October 28, 2013, Asia-Plus — Davlatali Davlatzoda, member of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament also activist of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP), has held a number of meetings with Tajik labor migrants in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says Davlatzoda has called on Tajik labor migrants to vote for incumbent President Emomali Rahmon on November 6.

“Davlatzoda, in particular noted that Emomali Rahmon has done a big work on bringing the country out of the communication impasse, achieving energy independence and food security of the country,” Sultonov said.

According to him, Davlatzoda has held meetings with Tajik labor migrants on sidelines of the session of the CIE Inter-Parliamentary Assembly dedicated to drafting a modular law on perpetuating the memory of defenders of Motherland and known political and public figures.

We will recall that six candidates have officially registered for the 2013 presidential election.  In addition to the incumbent President Emomali Rahmon, they are Tolibbek Bukhoriyev from the Agrarian Party; Olim Boboyev from the Party of Economic Reforms; Ismoil Talbakov from the Communist Party; Abduhalim Ghafforov from the Socialist Party; and Saidjaffar Ismonov from the Democratic Party.

The presidential elections in Tajikistan are administered by a three-tiered structure headed by the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) and including 68 District Election Commissions (DECs) and some 3,200 Precinct Election Commission (PECs).  To facilitate out-of-country voting additional PECs are expected to be established in 26 countries of the world.
