DUSHANBE, December 3, 2013, Asia-Plus — Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan has stood in fifth position among the post-Soviet states in terms of growth in consumer prices, the CIS Committee for Statistics reports.

Belarus has reportedly topped the post-Soviet states in terms of inflation over the report period.  In Belarus, inflation for January-October this year has stood at 12 percent.

Belarus is followed by the Russian Federation – 5.3 percent, Moldova and Kazakhstan – 3.6 percent each, and Armenia – 3.5 percent.

In Tajikistan, inflation for the first ten months of this year has stood at 3.1 percent. 

In Estonia, inflation for January-October this year stood at 2.5 percent, Kyrgyzstan – 2.0 percent, Azerbaijan – 1.0 percent, Lithuania – 0.6 percent, and Georgia – 0.5 percent.

In Latvia, the consume prices have not changed over the report period while consumer prices in Ukraine and Turkmenistan have fallen 2.0 and 0.5 percent respectively in January-October this year. 

According to statistical data from the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), Tajikistan’s inflation for the first ten months of this year has stood at 3.1 percent.

In October, inflation reportedly stood at 0.3 percent.

0.6 percent rise in prices of products of food industry was reported in October and non-foodstuffs rose in cost 0.2 percent in October.  Meanwhile, prices and rates for services rendered to the population fell 0.1 percent in October.

Last year, inflation stood at 6.4 percent, 2.9 percent lower than in 2011.
