Kulob chief architect Nouriddin Bozorov says the first stage of the road rehabilitation project includes rehabilitation of 6.3 kilometers of the Charmgaroni Poyon Street.

According to him, the Ministry of Commerce of China has allocated 6 million yuans for rehabilitation of streets in the cities of Kulob and Qurghon Teppa.

We will recall that more than 50 homes in the city of Kulob”s Charmgaron neighborhood were demolished by the flood that hit the city of Kulob in May 2010.  On May 6, 2010, the Tebalay River breeched its banks overnight in Kulob, leaving many people unable to reach higher ground. Fifteen people died in the high waters and mud from the Tebalay River that runs through Charmgaron.

On December 13, 2013, Tajik Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Nematjon Bouriyev, met in Dushanbe with a delegation of China’s Ministry of Commerce.  The main purpose of the visit was for the Chinese delegation to discuss implementation of road rehabilitation projects in the cities of Qurghon Teppa and Kulob in Khatlon province.  Chinese working group’s visit to Tajikistan concluded on December 18 and its members got acquainted with the state of roads in Kulob and Qurghon Teppa.
