DUSHANBE, December 24, 2013, Asia-Plus — Over the first eleven months of this year, Tajikistan has manufactured nearly 48 million somoni (equivalent to some 10 million U.S. dollars) worth of plastic products, which is 105.2 percent of the January-November 2012 level or 2.4 million somoni more, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

Seventeen small and medium-sized enterprises as well as five workshops for manufacturing plastic products now operate in the country.

“Provided with the state-of-the-art equipment, these enterprises manufacture competitive products meeting international standards,” an official source at a MoINT told Asia-Plus in an interview.

These enterprises reportedly produce plastic pipes, polyethylene film, polypropylene sacks, as well as polystyrene blocks, polyethylene pails and washbowls, etc.
