DUSHANBE, January 3, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik migrant worker has reportedly been shot to death in the Russian city of Chita

The press center of Russia’s Investigative Committee’s office for Zabaikalsky Krai (Trans-Baikal Region) reports that the 29-year-old Tajik national, who worked at one of commercial stalls on the Tokmakov Street in Chita, was shot to death in the evening of January 2.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 105 (1) of Russia’s Penal Code – murder; an investigation is under way.

We will recall that the body of Tajik national Shojon Rahmatshoyev, 32, with multiple stab wounds was found in the General Antonov Street in Moscow in the evening of December 26, 2013 at around 10:00 pm.

Russian media sources report Shojon Rahmatshoyev was attacked near his apartment, stabbed 25 times and had his throat cut.  The assailants reportedly did not take any money or valuables.  Rahmatshoyev’s body was impossible to identify immediately due to the severity of the assault.  People who worked with Shojon Rahmatshoyev at one construction site were able to identify his body the morning after the murder.  Investigators suppose that the killing was committed by a group of radical ultra-nationalists.
