DUSHANBE, February 11, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today congratulated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

In his message of congratulations, President Rahmon, in particular, notes that expansion of bilateral cooperation with friendly and fraternal Iran is one of the main directions of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.

Tajik leader expressed confidence that cooperation between the two nations will expand in the future as well.  “”We are interested in opening of a new page in relations with Iran,” the message says.

The Iranian Revolution (also known as the Islamic Revolution of Iran or the 1979 Revolution) refers to events involving the overthrow of the Pahlavi dynasty under Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and its replacement with an Islamic republic under the Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution.
