notes that according to the information of Barqi Tojik (national integrated power company of Tajikistan), total electricity generation in August 2014 was 1.527 billion kilowatt-hours (kW/h), or 49.3 million kW/h per day.  Electricity generation in August decreased by 1.6 percent (50.1 million kW/h) compared to July 2014.

Electricity generation in August 2014 was 18 million kW/h less compared to the same period of the last year.  This is reportedly due to a reduction of electricity consumption of the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO).

Meanwhile, total electricity consumption in August 2014 reached 1.288 billion kW/h, which is 3.7% less compared to July 2014.  In August 2014 electricity consumption was 90 million kW/h less than in August 2013.  In August 2014 the 220 kW and 110 kW networks from Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants transmitted 188.4 million kW/h of electricity to Afghanistan, 29.2 million kW/h more than in the same period of the previous year and 12.3% of the total amount of electricity generated in Tajikistan.

At the end of August 2014, the water level in the reservoir powering the Norak HPP was 910.54 m above sea level, which is 16.16 meters higher compared to July 2014, 0.15 meter higher than the same period in the previous year, and 53.54 m above the “dead level (inactive storage) (857 m).

The average water discharge from the Norak HPP reservoir at the end of August 2014 reportedly amounted to 980 m3/s, which is higher than the 9-year-old average of 1093.8 m3/s.
